George is an approved ONS researcher and a Research Fellow at the Enterprise Research Centre, Aston Business School. At the Enterprise Research Centre, he works on projects examining business dynamism in the UK using the Business Structure Database, patent analysis focusing on the green and digital technology-led transformation of the global automotive sector, and the effect of regional knowledge and skills complexity on Foreign Direct Investment in the UK.
He has a background in Economics and is nearing the completion of his PhD from Maastricht University. His research interests include the economics of knowledge and innovation, capability accumulation, and firm growth, with a special focus on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). His doctoral thesis, titled “Microeconomics of capability accumulation: essays on product diversification, innovation and firm dynamics in India,” employs advanced causal inference methodologies and machine learning techniques to study the innovation and firm growth dynamics.
Before joining at the Enterprise Research Centre, George participated in various projects including the Comprehensive Innovation for Sustainable Development (CI4SD) of the United Nations, focusing on firms’ green and digital capabilities and resilience towards shocks, and the Kerala and World Economy project at the Centre for Development Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, which focused on the impact of technology adoption on the export behaviour of firms.
